Social networking site Facebook beat search engine Google as the most visited site of 2010, according to Experian Hitwise, a leader in online competitive intelligence services. Facebook jumped to the top spot after spending 2009 in third place. Between January and November 2010, Facebook accounted for 8.93% of all U.S. web visits, compared with Google’s 7.19%.
This latest accolade caps a great year for Facebook; the social network hit 500 million users, and founder Mark Zuckerberg was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
