What are you doing to make 2011 a strong year for business? I am trying to make better use of the individual skills of each of my employees. By delegating more, I’m hoping to be more proactive. I’d also like to introduce a new charity art event to my calendar and do more creative marketing.
Do you drive business via social media websites? I use Facebook on a regular basis. It generates more business from existing customers. I’ve sold items featured on my Facebook page and seen an increase of class sign-ups. Some of my more popular posts have been about fun times we have at the store (such as a customer’s dog hanging out in my garden-themed window). It’s a way to create a personal bond with your customer.
What is the best advice you can give to fellow retailers? Be open to change. You need to change with the economy, the environment and your customers.
